I started my first business at a young age of twenty three. I failed miserably trying out SEO after spending an entire year writing blog articles one after another. There were crickets on my website with no customers. I packed up my bags and went back to University.Fast forward 5 years later. I grew my dating advice for men company MarcusNeo.Com to 20k+ in global readers. Using white hat link building SEO and paid advertising. That’s $100,000 of revenue as a one man employee. Everything bootstrapped.
I did EVERYTHING from website development to SEO to Facebook advertising, to copywriting to customer research to offshore team building & management… and etc!
Yes, in the trenches, as an operator! No venture capital and no external funding. Simple grit, technical execution and constant re-iteration.The pandemic hit, stress built up and I exited for personal health reasons. The site got acquired by the holding company of BeyondAges.Com in 2021.
That lead to me joining one of Singapore’s leading marketing agency: NextLevel Singapore. They are a digital marketing agency in Singapore that are approved vendors to IMDA Singapore’s Go digital initiatives.
I helped brick and mortar SMEs in Singapore grow their business through digital marketing. Even helping one of our clients scale to more than half a million in revenue with one ad, and one product.
I then had the good opportunity to take on digital marketing on an enterprise level. I joined one of the biggest banking groups in South East Asia as an E Commerce specialist. That led me to manage millions of dollars of marketing spend across multiple channels: Google’s search engine marketing, PMAX, Bing ads and Meta ads as an E Commerce specialist.
Formally, I hold a BSc in Business in Management from University of London. I am also Google Tag Manager certified, and received an advanced GA4 Certification by Marketing Interactive.
I am passionate about self development and human psychology. I also hold a certificate in solutions brief therapy. You’re more then welcomed to reach out me through LinkedIn.
“Eh Don’t Sue Lah… Sure Lose One”
That was what I heard from everyone, from parents, friends, consultants and even politicians when I was faced with a wrongful dismissal case.
The thought of going to court gave me sleepless nights.
Yet, the thought of not balancing the scales of justice ate me up.
The deadline to raise a case was going to be up. On the final day, I applied for my case through a government agency.
They listened, and listened well. My case was a little more than unusual and complex, as I had submitted my own resignation documents. On paper.
Yet, surprisingly, I found that both the government agency and the judiciary took into account the nuances of my case. It wasn’t as simple as looking at everything on paper.
They approved my case and gave me a pre draft version of an originating claim. I fumbled about filing the certificate on Singapore’s courts website and it was a genuinely interesting experience.
The lady from the government agency tried her best. Yet, I found the arguments 50% off the mark from factual events. I don’t blame her. How much can she truly write, explain by listening to me twice over the phone?
I accumulated all my evidence, in emails and WhatsApp chats, and constructed my own timeline. I used ChatGPT to teach me how to write in proper legal phrasing.
I wanted to give it my best shot in front of the courts. In my heart and opinion, I had overwhelming evidence.
Lo and behold, after weeks of obsession and anticipation, I appeared in front of the registrar. The final outcome was favourable. I was hugely relieved. Everyone was also hugely surprise!
I am not legally trained. They had resources that could drain me out. Yet, my case was heard. I had access to justice without any expensive legal consultations.
I started blogging about SEO for lawyers. The Law Society of Singapore reached out for me to speak at the Legal Tech Fair. I received a couple of enquiries and then signed on a law firm. That’s how this brand was born.
In Legal Tech Fair 2025, one of the presenters spoke about the business problems law firms face. Keeping track of billable hours, practice management systems… and the entire lot. I remembered the catchphrase: lawyers should not be accountants… so why should they be marketers?
Every law firm is like any other business. They require clients, cashflow and marketing materials to get the word about their practice out there.
In my experience speaking to lawyers and law firms, and using technology and direct-to-consumer advertising in the legal industry in Singapore seems nascent. There are also many concerns and conservatism about the Legal Profession Act regarding advertising and Law Society’s advertising guidelines.
I remembered facing my case, even enquiring from a law firm can seem daunting. Is it expensive? Are the fees transparent? Is it going to cost me a bomb? Those are the eyes of a consumer.
On the flip side, in my experience working with a lawyer generating leads through digital marketing for their law firm, they are extremely busy in court, I realized they have many deadlines to reach, and really do not have time to market their services. They have many rules to abide by in their legal profession, even on the accounting end, what more on the marketing end.
I am not a lawyer nor legally trained. These fresh entrepreneurial eyes can look for gaps where there is potentially value add in our legal processes.
With the introduction of ChatGPT and LLM tools, many individuals are relying on these tools in self-litigation, from having questionable citations in their cases to representing themselves in their own cases. Our own justices have commented on it.
If you asked me, most lawyers and law firms do not do a great job at marketing themselves. In the world of information, individuals aren’t just looking for legal advice. They are looking for strategic consultations, they are looking for something more. Anyone can pop into Claude or ChatGPT and ask it for legal advice, draft a business contract or an employment contract. The question begets, how can lawyers go beyond just providing legal information?
